Today was a nice sunny and warm day by February in Alberta standards so we decided to go for a walk around the neighborhood. Well, it was a great idea, but unfortunately easier said than done.
This year we had a record amount of snow that we haven't seen since the 70s and overall people did a pretty good job around here shoveling their sidewalks. But I think towards the last few snows, especially the one that came after the rain, people said, screw it! Needless to say most of the sidewalks were terribly bumpy and icy to walk on. I just about did a lipper and Chad grabbed me just in time. We finally had to walk on the road and cut our walk shorter than planned.
That was OK, we came home and putzed outside a bit, the sun felt really good. I don't give a rats ass what the groundhog says, I have taken the Christmas lights down now, so spring can officially start~!~!
I made some Green Onion cakes today for the first time, they turned out alright. Chad was loving them so that's good. Yesterday I went out with my BFF and we went to Greenland Garden centre. They have an indoor garden, so was nice to see the spring plantings and just be around some greenery. They also have some beautiful orchids. They are such a beautiful flower. I wish I could grow them in this house better but just not as much light as I would like.
So enough of la la land for me. I know, it will be back to reality tomorrow. Back to soul sucking downtown to work. I will keep my parka close by as its supposed to get -25 later in the week. I now see why old people end up in Florida. The older I get the more I hate winter so at this rate I will be wearing a floral shirt and a sun visor south of the border before you know it! lol NOT
Well have a good week all, give your loved one a little extra special valentines smooch tomorrow too : )
I fell last week, I know what you mean by the deadly icy sidewalks and the melt/freeze mess that is of the sidewalks. I'm just glad I wasn't carrying Hailey at the time I biffed it. I'm sooooo done with winter too, I hate being cooped up and can't wait to bust outside and hit the park! Mitch got me some Orchids for V-day and I am loving them, I have never gotten my plants to bloom again (way to dry here I think) but I will enjoy the flowers while I have them. Miss you guys hope to see you soon
