Thunder Lake

Today we drove out to Thunder Lake to join Chad's family.  They have been camping there for a few days so we took a drive out and had a great visit.  It is a provincial park so it's nicely maintained, has good bathrooms, showers, etc.  The camping spots can be reserved and they have various sizes and shapes. You don't see too many tents its seems...lots of big RV units seems to be the norm.

They have a decent beach, they have brought in sand so there is a kind of sandy area people can lay on.  Its a bit rockier sand, and the other drawback is the geese come ashore and do their business freely on the beach to go barefoot at your own peril.  Currently Thunder Lake is plagued with the algae bloom that you hear about on many other Alberta lakes.  It is recommended you stay out of the water, but still there were kids dipping and diving.  Wonder if they will get some serious diarrhea for their activities.

All in all we had a nice day.  El Michimo (our brother in law) was doing some serious cooking over the fire.  We had a great steak dinner with baked potatoes and corn on the cob.  We were all teasing him because he was seriously tending to his fire.  Something about a camp fire that brings out the "me make fire" in men.  Well we didn't complain, he kept it rolling and made us a nice meal.

There was a nice breeze today so the mosquitoes weren't as bad as they could be, but they sure are pesky little buggers...or "Hungry Guys" as our niece says.

So now time to post my blog and go read for a bit before bed.  Good night!
