Spaceship Superstar

Chad and Tammy are driving in the Matrix, coming home from a long day at work. K-97 is playing on the radio, same old songs you hear over and over.  When suddenly, Tammy's one good ear hears a familiar riff.  Could it be?  She turns it up.  It is....

Tammy: "Oh my god, I love this song, I haven't heard it in ages!"
Chad: Gives Tammy strange look

Radio: Every night is a different flight to a different galaxy
Do a sold-out show, then I hit the road in my starship limousine
Get so damned tired and uninspired doin` all these one night stands
It`s a giant leap for Rock`n`Roll...but it`s too much for just one man!!

Tammy: Sings along knowing every word.
Chad:  Rolls eyes

Radio:  I`m a Spaceship Superstar... gotta solar-powered laser beam guitar
I`m at the top of all the charts on Mars...I`m a Spaceship Superstar!

Tammy: Continues to sing, louder now
Chad:    "Really?  A solar powered laser beam guitar?  How does that work?"
Tammy: "Its solar powered!  hello!  It uses the sun"
Chad:    "There is no sun, and how do they breath on mars?"

Radio: On Mercury, they`re crazy about my stellar rock`n`roll
And I always sell out in advance at the Martian Astrobowl
The fans, they swarm like meteorites to our concerts on the moon

You should have seen us knock`em dead on Venus doin` all our favorite tunes

Tammy: Continues to sing and imitate keyboard moves while driving
Chad:    "The Martian Astrobowl?  Seriously?  And what is with those synthesizers? What is it with    synthesizers in those old songs?"  Chad rants about instruments you no longer hear today.
Chad:    "And venus has toxic air and the pressure would crush their skulls"
Tammy: keeps singing, not caring about toxic air or skull crushage

Radio: I`m a Spaceship Superstar...gotta solar-powered laser beam guitar
I`m at the top of all the charts on Mars...I`m a Spaceship Superstar!

Tammy: Smiling and very happy to hear this song
Chad:    Very happy that Tammy is happy but glad the song is finally over and the synthesizers have stopped

  2. I hate that song, but I love this post.

That song is almost as bad as "Take me to the captain"

  3. Take me to the captain...and tell him why i'm here....now that one is in my head. I am easily influenced. Although I don't think there is the awesome synthesizer action in that one.

  5. My wife is the one who really loves music, and we usually play a game where I'll play a song and she tries to guess what song it is, and who sung it. She's usually pretty good at this, but could not get this one, even though she knew the song. Once I told her the band a big smile hit her face and she went down memory lane (she links music with memories). So thanks Tammy for making my wife happy too. :)

  7. This is like whenever I hear The Final Countdown I'm instantly reminded of all those times listening to it in Liam's car and playing the keyboard on the dash.

  9. I saw prism once. I think it was Vlad, or maybe our friend Kevin, anyway somebody got some free tickets to see them at a bar somewhere. That is the end of my story but your post made me laugh :)
