Meet the Girls

OK before I bust out the gardening post, I should share a little secret.    My name is Tammy and I play World of Warcraft.  Ah, the shame...

Ultimately its Chad's fault, of this there is no doubt.  Although he never handed me the crack directly. He just played it around me.  It was a matter of time before I would give it a try.

At first I thought maybe it was just because I liked him that I was playing.  But as time went on, I played all the time on my own.  Sometimes he would go to bed and I would be up questing or raiding with my guild.  Yes...a guild.

I have quite a few different toons, but my main has been my Troll hunter.  So without further adoo, here is Auranoctura (I made the name myself : )

It's fairly appropriate class for me as hunters have pets.   She has a stable full of various types of pets, each has its own benefits.  She is level 85 which is top level until the next expansion.  I have played her in lots of different ways such as PVE which is the man way to get to the top level.  But I also enjoy battleground player versus player action.  She is a survival hunter and does fairly well in pvp, especially with resilience gear.

WoW also has a number of achievements that you can earn and this is the main toon I work on those with.  The most difficult one so far was a series of special event achievements that tie into all the various holidays and festivals such as valentines day, christmas, halloween, etc. (What a long strange trip its been). Each has many quests and takes a minimum of a year to get, two if you miss any of the quests during the limited holiday time.

For this quest achievement I was rewarded with a beautiful flying drake mount that not everyone has.

As a hunter your primary role is damage or dps.  Where this becomes important is in a Raid.  You are one of the people that is expected to output a wack of damage and take down the boss as fast a possible. You also have to stay alive by not standing in the "shit".   If it's purple, green, spikey, gelationous...don't stand in it!

To mix things up I thought I would try my hand at healing as well.  Anyone that has raided knows that dps is easy to get, but tanks and heals are at a premium.  So I rolled a Shaman and got her to 85 as well.  She has been a lot of fun to play and now has some decent raid gear.  There is still better available but unless we can get enough people together for the larger raids, those pieces will remain elusive.  She has a duel spec so can also switch to a damage dealing spec but I mainly use her for healing.  This is an important role in a group, and it definately gets easier with practice and a few helpful add-ons.

The trick to being a good healing shaman is to understand which heals to use when and to have good mana management.  This is tricky in raids.  We have fights that can last 6-7 minutes straight which is a long time when you are healing a large group that is taking a crap ton of damage!

Recently blizzard came out with a few new races for the Horde and Alliance.  For the horde I created a Goblin mage and named her Tamajama.  Goblins are funny little creatures that tell saucy jokes and have some very funny starting quests.  And when it comes to a fight, they can kick ass...just like Yoda!  When they /dance they do a mean lady gaga poker face.  My mage is only lvl 77 so far but I will get her to 85.  She does some pretty serious damage as a frost mage and is lots of fun to play.  (if I was like some players with rulers, this is where I would insert my amazing crit rate)

Each one of my characters has a variety of different professions and can make all kinds of things that can be used by each of them (blacksmith, inscription, herbalism, engineer). You end up having your own little economy and that is really handy.

These are just three of my toons, I also have a lvl 85 warrior, and 81 Warlock, and 80 Alliance rogue and a few other lower level ones as well.  I am getting to the point where I have played most of the classes now.

So those are my girls!  I have never made a guy character..or an Orc!  (orc chicks are nasty).   For some reason it would feel weird to play a male toon, although I am sure there are lots of guys that play females : )

So there it is...my little secret.  Don't judge, its all good, nothing wrong with camping out near the dork forest.

  1. yeah living with Chad has that effect on people :0) I too played a little D&D in my day! It's all good, as long as you aren't showing up for work dressed in costume, or turning into Penny like that episode of Big Bang... if your not sure what I'm talking about google it ;)

  2. Hey...you can't blame Chad...you are just at fault as he for me getting addicted to WOW.

And for the record...I know for a fact that you have had moments exactly like Penny in that episode of Big Bang Theory.

  3. I'd like to blame Chad for my WoW playing as well but I know it was my own fault :) It's probably a good thing Lorry never started playing. If you ever find yourself playing Tammy and it's been a marathon playing session and you happen to notice and then eat a Cheeto from your hair it is time to turn off the game for a while heh. (That was a great episode of the BBT)

  4. I'm hardly in a position to mock anyone for doing anything geekish...and that's saying a lot, because I consider mockery my second career. It doesn't pay, it's more of a volunteer position that I fill more for the good it does my spirit.

Enjoy your gaming time...and smite every Frenchman you encounter. Seriously. There have to be French folk on those servers and I want them smited!

  6. Lisa, Kelly and Chad told me you did a bit of nerding out with them, I am impressed! That episode of BBT with Penny and Sheldor was just on again the other night and made my laugh. When I was with moon ascendant guild and they raided late at night for long hours I looked an awful lot like that!
