I have always been an animal lover, hell often I like them better than people. Why is that? Well, because we are supposed to be on the top of the food chain and yet I constantly shake my head at the stupidity of our species. Case in point: If you are one of those folks that is giving your child botox for wrinkles or getting plastic surgery for your pet, you qualify for the tin foil helmet and should not be allowed to breed.
Yes, I said plastic surgery for your pet. Apparently this is on the rise! Here is an except from an article about the topic:
Ever consider putting your pet under the knife? From silicone testicles to nose jobs, cosmetic surgery for pets is on the rise in some regions of the world, reports The Telegraph. U.K. insurance company Petplan churned out the numbers based on claims made by British pet owners in 2010.
Not only was there a jump in nose jobs by 25% over three years costing a total of $2.5 million in 2010, but $1.6 million was also invested in eyelifts. Then there are Neuticles, the fake, bean-shaped testicles made out of solid silicone, which come in a range of sizes for the neutered dog to maintain pride and self-esteem.
Jim and Jaime Davenport of Atlanta, Georgia opted for the testicular implants for their English Bulldog. In an ABC News interview, the couple explained that it was just too "out there" that their dog, Munson, had been neutered.
The Davenports aren't alone. According to neuticles.com, "over 250,000 pets worldwide have been Neuticled since 1995."
I am not even sure what to say, I didn't even know the word "Neuticles" until today. Sigh ~
P.S. Thor is lucky he is hung like a grape or he could be in trouble ; 0

Plastic surgery as a whole sickens me. Think about the amount of time and money in terms of medical research and knowledge flushed down this absolute crap hole, and simply because people are vain idiots. Disgusting.
ReplyDeleteThis is just the next logical progression in the downfall of the human race.
Neuticles?...seriously?...we are worse off than I thought.
ReplyDeletebrutal, that is all.
ReplyDeleteI donno I think tha if my nuts were removed I'd like to have something there so I just don't have flaps of skin hanging down. Maybe thats just me.
ReplyDeleteHowever, in defence of plasic surgery, think of how many burn victims or accident victims have been the beneficiary of all that research? While people use it for vain purposes it can have its uses.
As for plastic surgery for dogs? Yeah, that's messed up. Think how many video games you could purchase with that money!
Oh sure, the original idea of what plastic surgery was supposed to be for : excellent. What it has become : ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with plastic surgery. Problem comes from cosmetic surgery, and even then, it's not always a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteI had plastic surgery on my hand. Sure, the nerve reattachment didn't take, but all the rest of it works. I still have most of my range of motion and I can type. Dunno if that would be the case without the plastic surgery.
I agree with Liam, but would even say that there are some forms of cosmetic surgery that aren't awful either.
ReplyDeleteAfter my numerous cancer treatments/surgeries, I had some cosmetic work done to remove the appearance of my scars. This wasn't just esthetic- the scars were protruding and causing painful chaffing on my stomach.
That being said, I think there needs to be more than just vanity at play. And the idea of dog cosmetic surgery is mindblowingly dumb to me.
Excellent comments! I totally agree that there are many wonderful things that plastic/cosmetic surgery does. Reconstruction, or some people have terrible deformities that really impact their lives. It can really help people feel/look normal again after surgeries. I have seen people that get masses of skin removed after major weight loss, it is definitely more than just cosmetic.
ReplyDeleteBut when little girls get injected with botox or subjecting an animal to useless surgery for an eyelift its crazy to me.
